Science projects need to improve your knowledge

What’s the big idea behind science fairs? Why do we have them? Is it supposed to serve any purpose other than causing students extra work in an already busy schedule? Don’t they just add more pressure on a student already bogged down with the numerous school activities. These are questions that a busy and irate student may well ask. The answer is simple. Science fairs are a tool to help you learn.

The science projects that you make are a way to help increase your knowledge. While you may know a bit about a scientific concept from your science book, it is given a whole new dimension when you do a project based on it. You become far better adept at the practical aspect of the concept. You take the concept out of the book and see the science behind it in action.

You learn new terminology related to the field that you are doing your science fair project in. For instance if you are doing an experiment on liquids, you might also learn something about temperature and pressure. You might learn about viscosity as well. So having a science fair is a great way to see what all interesting projects others come up with. It is also a good tool to test just how well you have grasped the scientific concept that you are working on. So while it may seem like an extra burden, it does actually have a great purpose.
